To kick-off Korea Blockchain Week, web3 game developers Faraway have revealed their latest title, Villains: Robot Battle Royale.
A mobile arena-based battle royale title, Villains is currently in Open Beta, and is available to download on iOS via the App Store.
Alongside the reveal, Faraway have announced a partnership with Korean game studio Birdletter to assist with the game’s upcoming global launch.
What is Villains: Robot Battle Royale?
Villains: Robot Battle Royale is an arena-based battle royale title, available on iOS. Players take control of one of a large roster of characters, and use a combination of active skills, attacks and tactical ability to be the last player standing.
The game is currently in Open Beta on iOS – but without the web3 elements. These are expected to arrive with the global launch of the game, although a date has yet to be announced.
Holders of assets from Yuga-created properties HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara will gain special utility in the game, and the title is also set to feature “a number of other web3 integrations”.
Responding to a community question, the @farawaygg account on X confirmed that these integrations will not include cosmetics, but assets with “real utility”.
Who are Faraway?
Faraway are perhaps best known for acquiring the HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara properties from Bored Ape Yacht Club creators Yuga Labs.
They are the creators of the popular Dookey Dash minigame, and are developing a number of experiences that include HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara, as well as branded city-building title Serum City.
Away from Yuga Labs, Faraway are also developing Shatterline, an upcoming web3 FPS title; Rebel Skies – a mobile action RTS with deck-building elements, and Mini Royale: Nations – a Solana-based browser shooter.
