Two of the most popular games on Ronin – Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse – have announced a collaboration, with $PIXEL, the native token of Pixels, being integrated into the Forgotten Runiverse MMO.
The $PIXEL token will soon be used within Forgotten Runiverse for exclusive in-game purchases and rewards. This gives players additional options for spending and earning across both titles. The integration also provides an opportunity to observe how currencies from two different games interact when given shared utility.
Both games are amongst some of the fastest-growing titles on Ronin, joining the likes of Axie Infinity as some of the biggest blockchain games in the world right now.

How are Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse working together?
Players of Forgotten Runiverse will be able to convert the game’s internal currency, Quanta, into $PIXEL. These $PIXEL tokens can soon be used to purchase items such as Mana, temporary gameplay Boosts, and limited-availability assets.
The collaboration also introduces crossover content. Pixels will add quests inspired by Forgotten Runiverse, and a special avatar tied to the MMORPG will be made available ahead of the token’s formal implementation.
This marks the first time that the $PIXEL token has utility outside of the Pixels ecosystem. To date, $PIXEL has been the main currency of Pixels and companion title Pixel Dungeons – and this may be the first step in the $PIXEL token gaining use cases in other games across the Ronin Network.

Why is this significant to Ronin?
The partnership is part of a broader push to increase activity on Ronin, a blockchain network originally developed to support Axie Infinity. In recent years, Ronin has opened to third-party developers and shifted toward becoming a general-purpose gaming chain.
“Web3 gaming will only reach its full potential if we work together, and expanding $PIXEL across multiple games reinforces our vision for creating a more sustainable web3 gaming ecosystem,” said Luke Barwikowski, founder and CEO of Pixels.
Forgotten Runiverse previously ran on Arbitrum, another Ethereum-based scaling solution, before transitioning to Ronin in July 2024. It is currently in early access and plans to launch its own token, $XP, later this year, which will serve as its primary in-game currency.
“We’re focusing on the fundamentals: building a durable game with a sustainable economy that supports the successful launch of $XP, and the insights we gain from integrating $PIXEL will help us achieve this goal,” added Shane Bierwith, COO at Bisonic Games.
Developers from both studios have stated that one of the aims of the collaboration is to gather data on how players interact with cross-game token systems. Metrics such as retention, token conversion, and spending habits will be tracked and analysed to help refine the economic models of both titles.
